Infertility Treatments
There are many possible treatments for infertility. Not all treatments are appropriate for all couples and your physician will direct you towards which approach is warranted in your specific situation.
That being said, in general, we encourage people to be as aggressive as they feel comfortable. This comfort level can change with time. Many patients may start with straight forward, conservative treatments and then proceed to more aggressive treatments if they fail to get pregnant. Exactly how aggressive any one couple should be will depend on a number of factors such as the woman’s age and what the couple is willing to tolerate from an emotional, physical, financial or religious perspective.
The following links describe the basic principles of some common treatments:
Ovulation Induction
Superovulation
Artificial Insemination
In vitro fertilization
Egg Donation
Other additional tests may also be needed depending on the treatment. Your physician will advise you on what testing you require.
